GIMP 1.2.3, Debian Woody

GIMP has been nifty and full featured and version 1 is still very useful. The main program dialog is tiny and other dialogs can be hidden to conserve screen space. Overall, everything is done with right mouse clicks or by double clicking on the tool you wish to change. GIMP's plugins have been collecting contributions for a long time.

Besides nifty tools, GIMP has a nice collection of scripts, and sample textures and sample paterns. Scripts typically have GUIs for user modification.
